At age 12, I began study with Edna Lund at the MacPhail School of Misic and at age 14 performed the Rubinstein D minor concerto (first movement) in public.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Piano (University of Minnesota) and Masters in Piano chamber music, (Northwestern University, Evanston, IL).
I studied piano with Paul Freed, and the analysis of scores and advanced counterpoint with Paul Fetler, an active composer. This study did much to shape my current approach to interpretation.
I studied piano chamber music with Robert Weirich (a Rudolf Serkin student) and vocal accompanying with Lawrence Davis (Assistant conductor with the Chicago Lyric Opera).
My training in Piano pedagogy was at Northwestern with Francis Larimer. This study included training in the evaluation of teaching materials and supervised teaching of children and adults.
I was a Doctoral candidate in the Department of Comparative Literature, University of Minnesota. Rigorous training in critical theory and Semiotics from Vlad Godzich.
I am an active member of the Minnesota Music Teachers Association (MMTA) and the Minneapolis Music Teachers Forum (MMTF). I am a past president of of MMTF, directed their recital program, and served on their Board for 12 years in various capacities.
